About Camp Lee Mar

Description

Hi, I’m Ari, and I have been the Director of Camp Lee Mar since 1994.
I first became involved in working with the special needs community because of my lifelong exposure to my dad’s pioneering work with The Guided Tour, Inc., a supervised vacation program for adults with special needs. From the time I could walk, I was going on Guided Tour trips with my dad, and spending a lot of time with these adults. As I became older and started leading trips, I began to truly understand the importance of working with this population. Today, I direct The Guided Tour and continue to carry out my father’s work. www.guidedtour.com
In 1998, my wife Abby and I welcomed our first child, Zachary, into our family. Zachary has special needs and was a camper at Lee Mar. Zachary has enhanced my first-hand knowledge and understanding of what it is like to be a parent of a special needs child. This has reinforced my mission of providing a growth-producing, memorable life experience for our campers with special needs.
I received a degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland (Go Terps!), and a Master of Social Work from Temple University. When I am not at camp, I live near Philadelphia with my wife, Abby, and our three children.
My Favorite Camp Meal: Turkey Sloppy Joes
My Favorite Camp Activity: Social Dance
My Favorite Special Event: Fourth of July
